It is a blue-gray metallic element, sometimes called spelter. It forms several important alloys. Foremost among these is brass, an alloy of copper and zinc. With good abrasive resistance, corrosion resistance, castability, and room temperature mechanical properties, zinc can be made into various alloys with many other metals.

You come in contact with this metal every day, and not only that, your body needs it to survive. It is one of the essential trace element because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health. Since the human body does not store excess zinc, it must be consumed regularly as part of the diet.
