Ferro Silicon

Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is an alloy of silicon and iron

FeSi finds application in the steel manufacture and alloy production industry. It serves as a sprout or bud in the molding industry, contributes to the production of steel and cast iron. It is used to make improvements in granulation and metallic structure in the molding of non-alloy and alloy cast iron and restoration of different types of ferroalloy, such as nouvelle steel.

FeSi is used as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferrous alloys. This prevents the loss of carbon from the molten steel.
