Ferro Molybdenum
FeMo comes from the aluminothermic reduction of technical graded molybdic oxide and ferrosilicon. The alloy is classified based on molybdenum content.
FeMo finds application in the production of stainless steel and other special types of steel for appliances that need to withstand high temperatures.
SS 316 has 2% Moly. In high pressure and high temp ares of Automobile, moly based steel is used. The alloy is also of use in the manufacture of machinery, piping lines for process factories, military apparatus, drilling machines, etc.
The alloy of FeMo consists of 60% of molybdenum, 0.1% of carbon, 1.5% of silicon, 0.04% of sulfur, and 0.03% of phosphorus. The particle size of FeMo is about 10-100 mm, which is mandatory for addition in cast iron and steel.
